Lila knew she wanted to wanted to work in the birth world the minute she caught her first baby as an 18 year old during her gap year before college. She went on to nursing school at the University of Florida where she was fortunate to have a midwife as a professor who introduced her to the field of midwifery. After graduating college she spent a few years working as nurse on high-risk obstetrics units at hospitals in Memphis and Nashville. She then earned her Master’s degree in Nurse-Midwifery at Vanderbilt University and completed the Baby and Company fellowship program after graduation. She happily stayed in the Baby and Company family since. She really feels she’s living out her calling by caring for women in this holistic, empowering setting.
Lila has a husband, Tommy, and a daughter, Posey, who was born at the birth center! When she’s not catching babies or momming, Lila enjoys reading, doing the crossword, running, and cooking. A few of her favorite things include Harry Potter, pie, New Girl, used book stores, and making Posey laugh (in no particular order).
