This 90-minute class will teach you the valuable role of mindfulness, and allows participants to briefly experience guided meditation in a group environment. So you want to have a baby. Got a plan for taking time off from work? How about the medical bills? Do you know what’s covered by insurance? This 2-part class will help you get smart about money before baby. Part one covers money matters like how to understand your health insurance, how to save for baby, and getting started with family budgeting. Part two, offered in partnership with Parent Financial, explores longer-term financial planning like wills, life insurance, and saving for baby’s education. View Schedules + Register

What are the best ways to track your fertility? Can you tell when you’re ovulating? It’s been awhile since high school health class, so if you’re just beginning to try to conceive, there’s no better time for a refresher. This 90-minute class is part of the Well + Prepared pre-pregnancy program and helps you tune into the changes in your body each month, track your signs on paper or in an app, and know when you are most fertile. These skills will help you get pregnant sooner when you decide it’s time, and will help you interpret what’s going on if it takes longer than you expect.

Note: this class is designed for women who are just beginning to try to conceive, or who are planning to begin trying. If you think you may have an issue with infertility, please schedule a visit to evaluate your health history and menstrual cycles. View Schedules + Register

preparing for birth and baby (classes for late pregnancy)

This in-depth, interactive childbirth education class covers late pregnancy wellness and self-care, coping techniques for labor, care and support options in the birth center and hospital, and postpartum care and support for mom and baby. Participants have opportunities to practice relaxation and active birthing techniques in the birth center environment. This comprehensive course is a must for all first-time parents or those who have not experienced un-medicated labor and birth.

This course is taught as a 4-week series (recommended) or a weekend intensive. It’s best to complete it by about 37 weeks. View Schedules + Register

If you’ve already given birth, this interactive workshop will help you plan for a new and positive experience with your next baby. You will have a chance to ask questions about how things work at the birth center and refresh your learning on labor, birth, and mother/baby care after birth. Come together with other expectant parents to learn about care of your baby in the first days after you go home. Topics covered in this prenatal class include normal newborn appearance and behavior in the hours and days after birth, monitoring your baby’s wellbeing, swaddling, diapering, and bathing your baby, arranging to have the support you need in the early weeks postpartum, working with your baby’s pediatric care provider, and much more. Becoming new parents can be a challenge and it is essential to make sure that both parts of your team are on the same page. In this lesson, we will look at what to expect in the first two weeks after baby arrives, including what help mom may need and how her partner can help her begin a successful breastfeeding relationship. We will also focus on how to establish yourselves as a parenting team, while also maintaining a healthy relationship together through open lines of communication. Finally, we will consider ways to create healthy boundaries with well-intentioned family and friends so that everyone feels loved, needed, and secure.

Whether your baby is still an infant or already past the halfway mark, this class can be your one-stop-shop for everything you need to know for months 6-12. We will review the developmental milestones your child is likely to experience in the second half of his or her first year and what this means for baby proofing the house. We will also explore fun ways to interact with your baby and stimulate his or her senses through sensory play. You will learn ten of the most useful baby signs, how to practice the “baby led weaning” method to introducing solid foods, and some tips for dealing with teething and separation anxiety. Months 6-12 are some of the most fun in this parenting journey and this class is aimed at helping you and your baby get the most out of them.

We will complete a lesson that helps you choose and communicate with your childcare provider, your place of work, and your partner so expectations are clear and manageable. Lastly, we will explore possible challenges that can pop up after you are back at work, like a disagreement with your childcare provider, or how to find the time to meet everyone’s needs, and what to do when you are missing your baby.
