Mary Kay Jessen. Health Coach, Educator.
Mary Kay Jessen, MSN, RN is a native of the Washington, D.C. area and relocated with her family to Huntersville in 2016. She began her nursing career on a postpartum floor, and has worked in a Teen Health Clinic in Virginia, as a school nurse, revising and updating state guidelines for the Virginia Department of Health, and working as an author on two chapters for a reference manual, including one on Teen Pregnancy and Parenting. Her passion is in education – helping clients obtain the information and knowledge they need to make informed decisions and live the healthiest life possible.
Mary Kay’s path to becoming an educator at Baby+Company started as a client, having delivered her younger daughter here in September 2016. From the first tour, through to her follow up care and everything in between, she was enamored with the amazing care, holistic and family-centered approach, and the kindness and care that everyone on staff exudes. Her husband joked many times that she should talk to the staff about working there, since she would (and still does) tell everyone about her experience. When she saw a job posting online, she knew it was a sign that it was time to return to work! Mary Kay truly believes she has found her dream job, combining her passions of education and her desire to help other moms with amazing co-workers, the ability to teach and share personal experience to clients, and helping other moms and couples prepare for the next step in their family’s journey through knowledge and empowerment.
Outside of work, she’s a runner and a triathlete. She can be found racing, training, and refueling with all the delicious food options available. She loves wine and all things chocolate. Her two young and very energetic daughters keep her busy, so she can be found at playdates, the park, enjoying tea parties, hiding in forts, and dreaming of sleep. She loves her tribe of supportive people, especially her mom friends – and believes everyone should have a network they can turn to and draw from to survive the crazy roller coaster of parenting.
