Baby + Company Family Member of the Month: Maddye Pascale, CNM

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Oklahoma with three older brothers. We were very close in age (4 kids in 6 years) and kept each other busy with plenty of sports and activities. I loved growing up in the chaos that comes with having a big family. I left Oklahoma for nursing school at Villanova University and ended up staying in the NE for the next 8 years. I worked as a labor and delivery RN in D.C., then moved to NYC to get my Master’s Degree at NYU. I was offered an opportunity to work at Baby and Company in Nashville when I graduated and jumped at the opportunity! I never thought I would live in Nashville but as soon as I got here I knew this was the place for me. One of my brothers was recently stationed at Ft. Campbell with his wife and new daughter (proud Godmother here!)  It has been great to have some family closer to me and to spend quality time with my niece as she grows so quickly!

How long have you worked at Baby and Company, and what do you do here?

I am a CNM here at baby+co. I started here as a new midwife in May of 2016. I moved here right after I graduated to start in the fellowship program- after my 1-year fellowship was done I begged Margaret to let me stay on as a Sr. CNM. Luckily, she agreed- I could not imagine working anywhere else honestly. I loved the model and options that we are able to make available to the women of our community.

Where do you like to eat in Nashville?

I really enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes at home with my boyfriend, but when I am craving a dinner out my favorite go-to’s are Rolf and Daughters, Lockeland Table (right in my neighborhood), or Once Upon a Time in France. For a little more casual options I frequent Greko or Mas Tacos. I am a big fan of Greek and Mexican food!

What’s your favorite book–and why?

I love good historical fiction! My favorite book would have to be The Nightingale. Its a book about two women in France during WWII, the book flashes between each of their stories and it is so beautifully written.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My favorite place I have traveled to would have to be Northern Italy, I love to be in the mountains, so the balance of Italian charm coupled with mountains was a dream for me!  If I had a chance to travel somewhere I have not been before though I would pick one of the places from my bucket list. Currently on the top of my list are Banff National Park, South Africa or Greece.

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Beautiful” by Carole King. That was easy.

You’re gifted $10,000. How would you use it?

If I am being responsible here my answer would have to be putting that money right towards my student loans. But let’s be real. That’s no fun. So, in a world with no student loans, I would most likely put that towards one of those bucket list vacations and invite all my family.

What’s the key to a happy life?

Spend your life surrounded by people who support, inspire you, love you and are positive influences. Life is too short to be surrounded by negative energy, so try to bring a little bit of positivity each day to everyone you come in contact with. This is how I try to live my life, although I am the first to admit that it’s not always easy! When I start to feel myself trailing from these standards I work to get back on the right path, which is so much easier to do when you have a great support system leading you back!
